IFTRA is an international forum of teacher regulatory authorities from Africa, United Kingdom, Ireland, Canada, Iceland, New Zealand and Australia.
Our Work
IFTRA is a forum for teacher regulatory authorities to collaborate on our core work - regulation of the teaching profession. The role of teacher regulatory authorities is complex and multi-faceted, but at its heart concerns safeguarding the interests of students and children.
Through the IFTRA forum, members from around the world are able to share in relation to our work:
the development and implementation of professional standards for teachers
matters related to compliance, professional conduct and discipline for teachers
legal and policy issues related to professional regulation
quality assurance of teacher preparation programs
impact of social, economic and political factors on the work of teachers and regulation of the profession
promotion of the profession.
Every two years, IFTRA holds a conference hosted by one of its members. The next conference will be held in June 2024, hosted by the Australasian Teacher Regulatory Authorities (ATRA) in Brisbane, Australia.
